Week 40 - Rome, 9/14/2015

Hello Everyone!
Our investigators are going good. We had one woman who we invited to
be baptized and she said she wasn't ready but we left her with alma 32
to read and then we called her a couple days later and she said she
read it and it touched her heart more than anything else she'd ever
read. And then she told us she had been thinking about baptism and she
wants to do it but she doesn't feel ready. And that's ok....she will get there.
It was neat to hear that she is thinking about it and all of that.
I got to talk to is guy in the street in the other area and it was one
of the neatest experiences I've had. We got talking about prayer and I
told him that we don't have memorized prayers and he was like really?
And I was like ya we believe that you can just pray what is in your
heart because Heavenly Father is a father and he wants to hear from
his children individually because we all have different needs and
different things to say. And he just looked at me like I was feeding
him water after a famine and he was just like really?? You can do
that? And I said yes we believe you can have a personal relationship
with God. And then I explained how the Book of Mormon is another way
we can find that and we read in the introduction where it says you can
ask God if these things are true and the Holy Ghost will tell you the
answer and he stopped mid sentence and was like wow, that is beautiful
and I was like ya it's true. You can read this book and ask if it's
true and you'll receive an answer and you don't even have to read the
whole thing just whatever you want, and he was like so I could read a
page and ask? And I was like ya... You could read a couple verses and
ask.. Ask as many times as you want. And he was like I want a copy of
this book and I will go home and read it. And it was just incredible
like literally his whole countenance changed from when I first started
talking to him. It was super neat!
love,

Week 39 - Rome, 9/7/2015

Well hello family!!
This week was good.
First highlight of the week was one of our old simps came back from vacation and we got to meet with her and we had an awesome lesson!! We taught the gospel of Jesus Christ and she loved it. Even better we had brought a member with us to that lesson and she loved the member which was super neat because it is really important that our simps feel like they have friends you know?? Then a couple days later we called her and asked her when we could see her and if she had read Alma 32 which we had left with her the lesson before and she said yes she had read it (miracle) and that it was one of the most touching things she had ever read in her whole life. She loved it!!!! Woooooo!!!!
Then I got to go to fara Sabbina aka Roma 5 on a scambio and I just love it there!!! I don't know what it is but the people there are so friendly and they listen to you. Literally we stopped people in the street or on park benches and the listened and wanted to know more. And then we had this amazing lesson with this 15 year old girl who we first helped with English and then watched the video by President Utchdorf called your true identity, and it's so beautiful because it talks to the youth about who you are and why you are here and your infinite worth and there was this super powerful spirit in the room and she was crying at the end of it and she just said like wow that touched me a lot because there are so many times you don't feel like that and other people don't tell you that and then we invited her to come to church and to hear more about God plan for her and she said yes!!! She was so cute, I was sad to leave her.
Then we found a pastry shop I will take you guys to when we come here because it is so delicious :))
Then we got to visit 3 of my favorite people in the ward. 1. Is this new convert family that is so so sweet and I just seriously love them. 2. This older woman in the ward who is from Ecuador and can't speak Italian very well, but she is so so sweet!!! We're teaching her who to sing the hymns in Italian because she asked us and then she always makes us something and so this time she made us cinnamon tea and then told us that she read on the Internet (she also always has a new internet theory) that it makes your stomach skinnier faster... Hahaha well it was delicious so I'll take it :) then 3. Is this other old woman who has Alzheimer's in the ward. She is so awesome. She's just like this rock and she loves the church. Even though she doesn't remember alot of things she always recounts to us in one way or another how much she loves the church and how important it is. I love her!!
love you all,  Sorella Kennedy 🇮🇹
